2009 Alumni Organization Update


Article VII of the Chi Phi Constitution requires that all alumni organizations register with the National Office. Please complete this Alumni Organization Update and submit it to the Chi Phi National Office along with a current copy of the organization’s bylaws. Completion and submission of this form will constitute annual registration of your Association. Housing Corporations not affiliated with an alumni association are not considered an alumni organization under the Chi Phi Constitution and are not required to register with the National Office. However, it is requested that such organization do so. This allows the National Office to maintain as complete a record as possible of all alumni volunteers.

Registered organizations will also be eligible to receive limited access to Chi Phi’s member database as well as association development resources and customized assistance.

I acknowledge that my organization must electronically submit a Form 990-N, also known as the e-Postcard, to the IRS each year by the 15th of the fifth month following the end of each fiscal year (e.g. if your fiscal year ends on June 30, then your Form 990-N is due on Nov. 15). Organizations that are required to file a Form 990-PF and those required to file a standard Form 990 or 990-EZ tax return are exempt from this requirement. Any organization that fails to comply with the new filing requirements as specified above may lose their tax-exempt status.
