Chi Phi Fraternity maintains a national headquarter located in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. The building is home to the Fraternity operations, Educational Trust, and the Archives of the organization. The office is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Eastern Standard time).

FRATERNITY LEADERSHIP:
The Grand Council is the administrative body of the Fraternity and has general care for the assets, as well as responsibilities for the general welfare of the organization. The Grand Council is led by the Grand Alpha (National President) who is elected by the Membership (undergraduates and alumni) every two years at Chi Phi Congress – the legislative meeting of the Fraternity. The Grand Alpha appoints all other members of the Grand Council. Each of these men serve in a volunteer capacity without compensation. The Grand Council supervises the activities of the National Office staff.
CHI PHI TERMINOLOGY:
Undergraduate Organizations
¨ Bid - an invitation to join a fraternity or sorority
¨ Colony – newly formed men’s fraternity; operating under the guidelines of the “Basic Colony Operations”; a colony has not received a charter
¨ Charter – the document granting the rights, privileges, and insignia of the fraternity
¨ Chapter – fully operational organization with an active charter
¨ Founding Members/Fathers – the initial group of undergraduate men who form the colony; typically, the names of these men are inscribed on the charter and presented during a formal ceremony
¨ Formal Pledging Ceremony – this is one of two public Rituals of the Chi Phi Fraternity. This ceremony is performed when a man (or group of men) accepts a bid. The undergraduate leadership present the new members with a pledge pin, called a Chakett
¨ Lodge Room – the room (either in the fraternity dwelling, residence hall, or campus building) where the undergraduate meet for weekly meetings and perform all ceremonies/rituals of the Fraternity.
¨ Personal Property – the materials owned by the colony/chapter which are required to perform the ceremonies and rites of passage.
¨ Ritual – Chi Phi Fraternity has several secret ceremonies that guide the organization. Each ceremony is to be practiced at least once a year. “Ritual” is also synonymous with “initiation”, the formal rite of passage when new members are shown the esoteric secrets of the Fraternity.
Undergraduate Leadership
¨ Alpha (President)- the Alpha is the head of the colony/chapter. He serves as the external spokesperson for the organization, presides at all meetings, and performs Ritual as prescribed
¨ Beta (Vice President) – the Beta is the second officer in command. He serves as the chaplain of the colony/chapter and oversees all of the committees
¨ Gamma (Secretary) – the Gamma is the recording secretary of the colony/chapter. It is his duty to complete all forms and reports due to the National Office and host institution, take minutes at meetings, ensure successful colony/chapter communication, and keep and preserve all records.
¨ Delta (Treasurer) – the Delta is responsible for the collection of all monies due to the colony/chapter and the payment of all bills incurred by the organization.
¨ Epsilon (Sergeant-At-Arms and House Manager) – the Epsilon shall be the custodian of the lodge room and of the personal property of the chapter/colony. He is also the house manager (if applicable)
¨ Zeta (Historian) – the Zeta shall be the historian of the colony/chapter and see that the organization publishes and circulates newsletters to alumni, parents, and the campus community at least once per year. Often times the Zeta is the manager of the colony/chapter website
¨ Eta (Risk Manager) – the Eta is responsible for all programs, education, and inspections concerning risk management. Constitutionally, the Eta is the second in command should the Alpha not be able to fulfill his duties.
CHI PHI SYMBOLS:
The Brand is the official logo mark of the Chi Phi Fraternity
The Badge is the jeweled “Chi” and “Phi” worn by initiated Brothers of the Fraternity.
The Chakett is the twelve pointed badge worn by new members (pledges) of the Fraternity. “The Chakett” is also the name of the Fraternity’s magazine.
The Crest is the official coat of arms of the Fraternity
ABOUT CHI PHI FRATERNITY:
Official Colors – scarlet and blue are the official colors of the Fraternity.
Official Flower – Chi Phi does not have an official flower, but many colonies and chapters present yellow roses, symbolizing friendship, to mothers and females
The Mission of Chi Phi – To build better men through lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities, and character development.
