The Boys and Girls Clubs of America began as the federated Boys' Clubs of Boston in 1906 with 53 member clubs. The Boys' Clubs of America received its U.S. Congressional Charter in 1956 and officially changed the name to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in 1990. Since its inception, the Boys and Girls Clubs have served over 3 million youth at more than 2000 clubs nationwide. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, they are a natural fit for the national philanthropy of Chi Phi Fraternity.

"To build better men through lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities and character develop" is the mission of the Chi Phi Fraternity fitting nicely with the five core programming areas of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. These five areas are: character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, and sports, fitness and recreation.

Working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America is both easy and fulfilling. The professional staff at each Club will work with the individual Chapter or Colony to establish event that fit the needs of the children and the fraternity. Helping coordinate baseball clinics and basketball tournaments to providing locations for fraternity members to tutor the children in the after school program are just some of the areas where Chi Phi's can interact with the clubs.

The Chi Phi Fraternity officially adopted the Boys and Girls Clubs of America at 139th Congress and has been recently working with the National Headquarters of the BGCA to establish a plan for great involved between the two groups.
